April News
Hi Dance Family,
Hoping you are all safe, happy and healthy. It’s hard to believe it has been a month since we would have been back in class after March Break. We can’t tell you much we miss seeing your faces, and your energy filling the studio.
There are a few updates to pass along this month:
Zoom Classes:
It has been wonderful to see most of you in virtual class. Thank you so much students, parents and teachers! We know this format is not ideal, but it’s the only way we can stay connected and see all of your smiling faces. It can be difficult for some to learn this way so here are a few helpful tips to make the most out of these classes:
- Close out any other programs running on your laptop/phone/iPad that could interfere with your internet connection.
- When in class, switch to “speaker view” and “pin” the teacher’s video so that she will always remain large and full screen. Parents, if you could please help the younger students set this up it would be greatly appreciated.
- Classes are 30 minutes in length, however might go over a little bit to accommodate students getting signed in/set up.
- Please position your camera appropriately. This may mean adjusting through out the class so we can see you standing, your feet/arms, floor work, etc.
- Please treat your classes and teacher the way you would treat your regular classes in the studio. Be respectful, try your best, ask questions and engage, don’t be on your cellphone or computer chat.
- Most of all, have fun! We know classes can’t be perfect – some of us are dancing in small spaces, on carpet, around furniture and families (pets included!) and have spotty internet connections… these classes are about getting a chance to stay active and creative, and stay as a community with your classmates.
Tomorrow, April 22nd will be our first WILDCARD WEDNESDAY class! For this first week, we will be holding a 30 minute family Booty Barre® class. This is open to all of you, the more the merrier! We are asking for your input on a time to schedule, 4:45pm or 7pm? Class time will be posted on Instagram and website Latest News tomorrow. Have a chair handy to use in place of a ballet barre.

Payments:
All monthly payments were stopped as of March 15th. We will have to wait and see if any of this dance season can be salvaged before calculating refunds or credits towards September.
Costumes:
Most Showcase costumes have been purchased however no one has been charged yet. As previously mentioned, we would love to have a postponed Showcase whenever large gathering are permitted again. In the meantime they are all at the studio and I have stopped altering (lol!).
With another week behind us, I hope you’re all settling into this new reality and daily routine (dance pun intended!) as best as one can. Please continue to share feedback and request, reach out with any questions you may have, or just to say hi. Continue to take care of yourselves and loved ones, and hopefully, let us continue to stay positive and stay moving together as a dance family.
Sincerely,
Wendy and your R&R Staff
Latest Update and New Schedule
Dear R&R Dance Family,
We hope you’re staying healthy and happy. We have loved getting to chat and dance with many of you this week as we tested out our Zoom classes! It can be a little tricky with fuzzy internet connections, pets and little brothers running around, almost dancing into walls or over your bed…but we’re figuring it out and making the most of this new way of life for a little bit.
Attached you will find our new online Dancing from a Distance schedule. It is a simplified and condensed version of your usual weekly schedule, we tried to keep many of your class days and rough time slots the same. Classes will be shortened to 30-40 minutes. Some age groups have been combined, so if you are not quite sure where you’d fit in, we’d be happy to answer any questions. This schedule is subject to change as we discover what is working well, what could be added, attendance, etc. Stay tuned for special add in classes like open level Wild Card Classes, Booty Barre and Family Dance Parties!! CLASSES BEGIN THIS SUNDAY APRIL 5TH.
The attached schedule has links to each class with the corresponding Zoom meeting ID. If you are new to zoom, check out their website HERE for a bunch of great tutorials to get you started. If you ever have issues with the links to each class, let us know and we’ll send you all the necessary codes.
We are also setting up YouTube and IGTV channels where we can post tutorials to complete at your own pace and own schedule. Fun dance combos and work outs, strengthening and stretching exercises, etc. We are also hoping to add videos of your Showcase and Competitive dances so you can keep practicing!
As the news gets updated faster and faster, no one can predict what the next few months will look like. I know the optimist in me is hoping for a miracle, that we will all be able to dance our hearts out at a postponed Showcase and then have us go about with a wonderful summer! (crossing all our fingers, toes, legs!) But for now, dancing looks a little different. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of our students and teachers, all the hard work you have put in throughout the year does not go unnoticed. We are not sure how or when, but we promise to try our very best to still offer some sort of Showcase whenever we are able to dance together again.
We are trying to revamp our email server to have full access from outside of the studio. We can always check and respond to incoming mail, however mass communication is tricky. If we are unable to get into the studio to send updates, we will post the latest on the website under “Latest News”, or on our Instagram page. Thank you for your patience as we work out the kinks in this new virtual world. Let’s stay in touch, stay dancing and laughing together, stay healthy and happy!
We miss you,
Wendy and the R&R Staff

COVID-19 Update and Online Classes
Dear R&R Dance family,
First of all, we are sending out so much love and positive energy to you and your families! We hope you are all doing well, and staying safe and sane!
What strange and completely unprecedented times we are living in right now. With everything changing/updating so quickly, it’s been hard to predict what the remainder of the dance season will look like. Although it seems like forever ago (considering today is March 97th!) it was barely 2 weeks ago I said goodbye to most of you as we set out for an extended March Break, hoping we would be back in classes April 6th. Sadly, that is not the case anymore. According to the latest announcement of school closures until early May, the hope of returning to dance as well might be far fetched but could still be a possibility.
Please understand, we are not taking this lightly. There has been so much uncertainty on a timeline, we have not been sure how to proceed. If we are able to reopen in May and extend classes into June, we could make up this lost time and Showcase is still a possibility. In terms of competitions, we are not keeping you in the dark. We have been passing along all information we receive. Most are rescheduling for July and August, not much mention of refunds as of yet. Circumstances are changing at such a rapid pace, no one is able to predict when and how we can regain a sense of normalcy. We just have to take things week by week, even day by day, and see how this is all progressing.
While we try to navigate this new normal, the staff has been working hard to put together dances, activities and a sense of community for you. Thank you to everyone who participated in the past week’s Instagram daily challenges! We miss studio life so much, but it was great to keep up Dancing from a Distance! Going forward, I’d like to try a combination of Zoom, Instagram Live and video tutorials that we can upload onto IGTV and YouTube. We really appreciate your patience as this is foreign territory to us (and I am definitely not tech savvy!) We will be kicking things off today, Tuesday March 31st, with a Zoom mass warm up class at 4:45pm. You will find the meeting ID and password at the end of this email. Going forward, we will be creating classes and age specific combos based on participants, please email or DM to receive meeting codes. Tomorrow Wednesday April 1st 4:45 pm – Level 1 Jazz and Level 2 Hip Hop 5:30pm – Level 2 Jazz and Level 1 Hip Hop. When we cannot make it into the studio for mass emails, we will be updating and promoting new classes through the “Latest News” section of the website, the studio’s answering machine, and our Instagram account. Although creating a schedule based on your usual class times would be ideal, not all of your teachers schedules, quarantine, and living arrangements will allow that. Again, we ask for your patience as we work out the kinks. Feel free to send us suggestions and feedback of what you would like and we will try our best. Also, feel free to update us on how your schedules have changed so we are in the know with the different schools and camps.
Thank you all for being party of our Dance Family, we love you and miss dancing with you! During scary and uncertain times like this, all we can do is try to stay happy, healthy and kind to one another. Know that everyone is trying their best, and we will get through this together!
Lots of Love,
Your R&R Staff
